Well, I wish you luck in finding the answer to that question in any of my posts. I haven't blogged about that (yet). But if you'd like just a glimpse, see "A Beautiful Love".

And for an explanation of why I have free time, see "The Parental Paradigm - My Place as Single Mom".

Enjoy!

Sorry, didn't mean to put you in an uncomfortable position about the resume.

I'm surprised you have more free time than me. You have a child! :)

That's a really insightful theory from your friend/former boss. I'd be curious about their take on the roles that men have to balance (and sacrifice) as well. I think the really interesting part is that people have a choice between those roles, a choice that becomes more apparent once they realize they can't be on top of their game for all three at the same time. People have the power to change their lives for the better merely by maintaining that balance better.

I'll have to read more entries about why you're no longer a wife. Any suggestions on key entries to read to catch up?

I'm posting this at work too. But I work in a job where as long as I get all my work done well and on time, I can mix in other things as well.

I prefer not to discuss resumes unless truly asked for critical advice. I find it gets me in trouble. People are really sensitive about their resumes! But really, yours is impressive.

Blogging is ABSOLUTELY the fun/easy part. But I would gander I have more free time than you. Just a guess, of course.

And I do settle for mediocrity in some areas. It's the only way to fit it all in. I have a genius of a friend and former boss of mine who puts it well. A women (in similar circumstances) has three main roles: wife, mother, professional. You cannot excel in all three at any one given time. You can be an excellent mother and accomplished professional, but you're not going to be able to give your marriage priority. Perhaps you can be a great wife and a great professional and not a great mother (but I can't relate to that woman). Throughout your life, the balance will shift, but you can really only do two at the level of excellence, and the third - well, you do the best you can. I'm not a wife, but the theory still applies. Right now, being an excellent mother comes first. The second and third alternate depending on the circumstances of life in that period of time.

I suppose you could say I'm no longer a wife because that one was never on the top of the list for me! ;)

I suppose you could also say that I'm settling for mediocrity in my productivity for the day by posting here in the middle of the work day!

So did my resume pass the Lauren Test?

Blogging is actually the easy/fun part for me. Isn't it for you? An entry takes about 15 minutes (some even shorter, some a little longer). I love those 15 minutes.

But my life is certainly not perfectly balanced. I love to write fiction, but when my full-time job takes over, that gets pushed aside.

How do you not settle for mediocrity?

So I read your about section and your resume. HOW ON EARTH do you have time to fit in all this blogging and still be effective in the other areas of your life? You don't sound like someone who settles for mediocrity. What gives?
